Palma Aquarium
If you have had enough of the sun or the weather is bad, then Palma Aquarium on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca is a fun activity for the whole family.
Palma Aquarium opened in 2007, and was established by Coral World, which also operates marine parks in Hawaii and Australia. Their extensive experience with such parks has resulted in an aquarium with both fish and reptiles, and experiences inside and outside.
The main attraction of the Palma Aquarium is the huge shark tank, which is 33 meters long, 25 meters wide and 8.5 meters deep. This makes it one of the deepest shark tanks in Europe. PADI-certified divers can, for a fee, be allowed to dive among the sharks. Other guests can walk through the tunnel and see the big sharks, rays and other exciting fish swim around them in the large aquarium. Pretty impressive!
However, the tour starts with 25 aquariums with fish from the Mediterranean followed by 24 aquariums with fish and corals from tropical regions. There are lots of colorful fish here, including the popular clown fish, which is surrounded by beautiful corals. Next to the aquariums are interactive screens where you can read about the fish and corals.
After visiting the many small and medium-sized aquariums, the tour continues outside, where there is a playground, a large pirate ship, and some open pools. This area is most interesting when it is feeding time. After this comes a jungle with a small rainforest, a beautiful waterfall and reptiles. Finally, the tour ends in the large aquarium with sharks, rays etc.
