Cala Estreta
Cala Estreta is located in the north-east of Mallorca, 8 km from the historic town of Artà and 2 km from the family-friendly holiday resort of Cala Mesquida.
The beach in general
Cala Estreta is a very small rocky beach located inside a narrow and 100 metre long rocky bay.
Small parts of the beach are covered with coarse sand, but the amount of sand changes from year to year and there may also be seaweed on the beach. On the other hand, you can be lucky enough to have the beach to yourself, even in the summer months. The surroundings are beautiful unspoilt nature as far as the eye can see.
There is a car park close to the beach, which can also be used as a starting point for a visit to the much larger beaches Cala sa Font Celada and S’Arenalet des Verger. Both are just over an hour’s hike to the west and the impressive nature along the coast is well worth it. Remember to bring plenty of water.
Child-friendliness
If you’re travelling with young children, Cala Estreta is not the place to go. Instead, visit the large sandy beach Cala Torta about 600 metres to the southeast, a large sandy beach with plenty of room to play.
Water sports activities
There are no water sports activities offered at this small beach, but you can snorkel along the rocks in the crystal clear waters of the bay.
Restaurants at the beach
At Cala Estreta it is not possible to buy food and drink, but during the summer months the restaurant at Cala Torta is open. The menu includes fish dishes, but you can also just buy sandwiches, ice cream and drinks.
Holiday resorts close to Cala Estreta
The area around Cala Estreta is beautiful, unspoilt nature without any development. It could have been different, as the road was originally built to open up the area for tourism. However, the scarcity of water in the underground put an end to hotels, restaurants and shops.
The nearest holiday resort is Cala Mesquida, which is located a few kilometres from Cala Estreta. Cala Mesquida is a rather small holiday resort, but it still has some great family hotels, such as the 4-star Viva Cala Mesquida and Zafiro Cala Mesquida. Both with large swimming pools and very close to the beach.

Cala Estreta is located in the centre of the map, while the area’s most famous beach Cala Torta is located a little to the south-east. At Cala Torta there is a large car park.
