Cala Morlanda
The small, quiet town of Cala Morlanda is located between S’Illot and Porto Cristo on the east coast of Mallorca.
The pebble beach in Cala Morlanda is not worth the drive, but it is quite different with the natural beach Caló d’en Rafelino south of the town.
The beach in general
Caló d’en Rafelino is a small beach 3-5 minutes’ walk south of Cala Morlanda. Those arriving by car can park it at Avinguda del Llop in southern Cala Morlanda.
The beach is located inside a small, but beautiful bay surrounded by cliffs. The all-natural landscape together with the fine bright sand and the turquoise water makes Caló d’en Rafelino a beach worth visiting.
Caló d’en Rafelino not very well known, which is one of the reasons why there is usually plenty of space on the beach. Another reason is that there are no facilities on the beach. The beach is often visited by naturists, but it is perfectly alright to keep your swimwear on.
Note: The amount of sand can change from year to year, and some years there is less sand on the beach.
Child-friendliness
The space for playing is limited, but otherwise the beach is good for children. Fairly shallow water.
Water sports
This small beach offers no water sports, but Caló d’en Rafelino is a nice spot for snorkellers and divers.
Restaurants close to the beach
There are no beach bars or restaurants at Caló d’en Rafelino, so remember plenty of water. The two closest restaurants are Ses Xarxes and Ristorante Italiano Mama Mia in the south of Cala Morlanda. A 12-15 minute walk from the beach.
The town of Cala Morlanda
Cala Morlanda is a relaxed town without any hotels, but with a handful of bars and restaurants. Only a few private houses/apartments are available for rent.
Over time, the town has grown together with S’Illot, where there is a good selection of hotels and restaurants. The best hotel in S’Illot is the 3-star Universal Hotel Perla, located right on the beach.
From S’Illot there is a beautiful beach promenade to the newer and much larger tourist town of Sa Coma.
Caló d’en Rafelino on the map
At the bottom left of the map is Caló d’en Rafelino. In the upper right corner is the outskirts of Cala Morlanda. If the map moves a little further north, S’Illot appears.
